Talk About Gaining Visibility!
Wow! In ONE week, our church was highlighted by Associated Baptist Press and the state convention! Associated Baptist Press wrote an article about us being a "Champion Church" through our missions giving. You remember, we gave a $500.00 matching gift to them. And what a uplifting article it was about us. And then, the state missions offering posters came in the mail. I opened the poster advertising our state missions offering, and what grabbed my eye? Pictures of Summit Baptist Church (now Christ Church) family were on the poster! I think that folks in the state are thinking that God is doing something wonderful among us! How affirming! I was already feeling really good about receiving a call from Georgia Cooperative Baptist Fellowship office apologizing for their oversight concerning sending us a monthly check to help us with our expenses, and they were going to catch up. So, over all, this has been a very positive couple of weeks!
More good news! We have been invited to write a grant proposal being offered by McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University. This grant could be up to $10,000. The grant is focused on enabling churches to reach people not involved in church and to grow new Christians to have a stronger faith. The realization is that we reproduce who we are (in nature as we as the spiritual dimension). So, to have stronger Christians, we must become stronger Christians rooted deeply in the teachings of Jesus. Please pray for our core team as we meet, pray, and write this grant proposal which is due on November 1, 2013. If awarded this grant, the funds will be provided during 2014.
Please pray about your contribution to the state missions offering. As you feel led of the Holy Spirit, please make your check payable to Summit Baptist Church (now Christ Church) and designate in the lower left corner "state missions offering." At the end of the month, we will send one check from the church to the CBF office.
Lastly, please invite someone to our church who is not attending church any where on a weekly basis. Research shows that if a friend invites an unchurched friend to worship with them, 70% of the time, the unchurched friend will attend! Amazing! Let's try it!
Your Servant in Christ,
Ron
