Keeping Promises

I am told that the Afghans who helped the military were promised that their families would be safely evacuated if the Taliban won the war. Now, America is keeping its promise. Afghans are coming to America, because they saved American lives during the war. Our ecumenical ministerial association, in our county, voted to receive an Afghan family in Grady county and to care for them until they could get on their feet financially. Unfortunately, because of our rural and somewhat isolated location, we will not be receiving a family. But our “Plan B” is attractive! The International Rescue Committee, in Tallahassee, has requested assistance in the resettling of Afghans relocating to Tallahassee. Our ministerial association is coming together to send money and various supplies. Christchurch Cairo voted to send $1,000.00 to the IRC. We are delighted to help these people who risked their lives to save American lives. We understand that many of these Afghans left their country with nothing but the clothes on their backs. So, their needs are many. What an honor it is to help these precious people find a new life in a safe environment.

If you feel led to help, then please type in “International Rescue Committee” in your search engine to find their home page. You will find the appropriate information. And most importantly, please keep these Afghans in your prayers as they find their way in a new country.

Love in Christ,

Ron McCaskill, Pastor
